Lydia Garrison and Joe Damiano are GD Herbals, located in Danby, NY. We sell fresh Ginger in October and November, and our other products year round: Ginger Syrup, Lemon-Ginger-Turmeric Loose Tea, Elderberry Ginger Syrup (while supplies last), and our "Pesto Di Damiano." Joe has been perfecting this basil-sage-parsley pesto for many years and we are excited to offer it for sale. We have two kinds: vegan, and made with parmesan cheese. Our products are available at:

INFORMATION ABOUT THE MEDICAL PROPERTIES OF GINGER:
Ginger: Zingiber Officinale
Constituents: Volatile oil (1%-3%, occasionally more), primarily containing the sesquiterpenes zingiberene and B-bisabolene; oleoresin (4% to 10%), containing gingerly, gingerdiols, gingerdiones, dihydrogingerdiones, shogaols; lipids (6% to 8%).
Actions: stimulant, carminative, antispasmodic, rubefacient, diaphoretic, emmenagogue
Ginger is good for:
Sore Throats
Motion Sickness / Car Sickness / Seasickness
Pregnancy Morning Sickness (specifically nausea, indigestion and vomiting)
Strengthening Digestion: strengthens digestive enzymes to aid indigestion, gas, diarrhea, and appetite trouble
Stimulating peripheral circulation (effective for bad circulation, cramps, and chilblains).
Reducing Blood Clot Formation: Human studies have shown that ginger causes a reduction in platelet aggregation.
Reducing Inflammation in Rheumatoid Arthritis (anti-inflammatory effects due to a dual inhibition of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase)
For feverish conditions, ginger encourages sweat production.
In hot climates, it’s antioxidant and antimicrobial properties help preserve food.
Animal studies have suggested that Ginger has several remarkable properties:
Hypoglycemic (corrects low blood sugar)
Hypotensive & hypertensive (corrects high and low blood pressure)
Antihypercholesterolemic (corrects low levels of cholesterol in the blood; problematic for the production of hormones, bile salts and plasma membranes)
Cholagogic (helps digestion by helping the gall bladder function properly; the gall bladder produces bile which digests fats)
Stomachic (digestive aid and tonic; improving the appetite).
